This excellently made antique tetsubin dates from around the early 1900's. It was made by the Xiang Yun Tang studio & is signed on the base of the lid.
Inside the tetsubin is in excellent condition, with just some slight surface rusting and slight mineral buildup.
The water quality is good, although I think it will improve further with more use. I had to do quite a bit of cleaning when it arrived to get rid of a storage taste, but with repeated use a nice mineral patina will build up, sweetening the water.
The knob on the top is made from good quality silver and the tip of the spout is also covered with silver.
A beautiful tetsubin that I'd be happy to own & use myself.
