Red Tea, also known as Black Tea or Hongcha, is a fully oxidised tea. The leaves have been withered and bruised to encourage oxidation, then fired to fix the oxidation level and rolled before drying the leaves.

1980's Yunnan Hongcha
I discovered this tea whilst in Kunming and was struck by the pure clean taste of the leaves, even after all this time, having been stored in double-lidded tins. It is the chaqi and endurance of the leaves that give it's age away though.£24.00 -
2011 Spring Lapsang Souchong - HeGan
This is naturally smoked using pine wood and only smoked very lightly, to enhance and compliment the natural flavour of the tea rather than overpowering it with smokey flavours.£0.25 As low as: £0.22 -
