This Tie Guan Yin comes from an old plantation on Lao Cha Shan, YaoYang village, Xiping, Anxi. We've struggled for a while to find a traditional, authentic Xiping, Tie Guan Yin that is grown without chemicals. So many Tie Guan Yin's are grown intensively and need large quantities of chemical fertilisers. This is grown naturally, without any chemical fertilisers and pesticides and has been processed in a more traditional style than the modern super green oolongs, being very lightly oxidised then rolled and very lightly roasted.
The result is an exceptionally pure tea with the characteristic floral, honey notes that Tie Guan Yin is famed for. The tea evolves well throughout the infusions and sits elegantly in the mouth and throat.
An excellent example of a traditionally processed Tie Guan Yin, naturally grown.

Good TGY Review by tT
We’ve tried a number of TGY in the past, however nothing quite this expensive. I really like that David has pursued a TGY that has been traditionally processed and also grown without chemicals fertilizers/pesticides. Again, the leaves are very aromatic and smell wonderful. The brew comes out a very nice yellow (possibly with a hint of green). It tastes floral and sweet. Though a little on the expensive side for our tastes, I am glad we purchased this tea and feel it was a great sample. (Posted on 29/11/2011)

great TGY Review by tom
Very good TGY. Made me rethink what I expect from a TGY - all the elements are there but in a very subtle and clean way, and all the better for it. (Posted on 27/11/2011)

Very good Anxi TGY Review by RC
Well the description of this tea is very accurate. This is indeed a well made tradtional Anxi TGY. In this case traditional means that this is a green TGY although with a level of oxidation that is higher than if typically found in other modern TGY. It is not a high roasted dark TGY (like a Taiwan TGY).
This tea exhibits the typical Anxi TGY flavor which is very distinctive. To me the flavor is a bit like a good bread. Also the hui gan (aftertaste) is very noticeable in this tea. It is like the tea flavor coats the inside of your mouth and you can still taste it for several minutes or more after drinking it when you breath in. This is the sign of a good tea.
Thanks to EoT for searching out a naturally grown option. It is very difficult to find any naturally grown teas, let alone a good one. (Posted on 12/09/2011) -
Very nice Review by Žiga
Although I don't drink much lightly roasted and/or oxidized oolongs, this is the tea I enjoy very much. It's a rare thing to find organically grown TGY. Tea have very pure and clean mouth feel and long lasting huigan. Highly recommend. (Posted on 07/09/2011)
